Abstract
It is well known that one of the main problems in experimental microangiography and postmortem radiographic examination of blood vessels is the choice of a radiographic contrast medium.
The authors have attempted angiographic and microangiographic examination in experimental research by using one of penetrating contrast media, Micropaque and could obtained satisfactory results.
Animals were killed with an overdose of Pentothal Sodium given intravenously. A 25%(w/v) dispersion of Micropaque made up either in saline or 10% formalin, and warmed up to 40 degrees C, was injected into artery until whitening of the venous return was noted. As a rule, saline dispersion:of Micropanque was injected in the beginning of 2/3 and formalin dispersion was followed in the later /, The pressure of injection was kept constant through-out the injectoin by using a constant pressure meter but it varied from 30 to 80 Hg pressure by subjects. After completion of injection, specimen was kept in 10% formalin for 24 houre before rediography.
